Hi, I’m Shay (They/Them)!
I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who has recently joined Wild Heart Society, but has been in the community for years. While so many of our symptoms make sense for the world we live in right now, changing our relationship to the ways in which we struggle can free up some much-needed energy.
My style is relational, empathic, somatic, and integrative; often utilizing EMDR, IFS, ACT, and narrative therapies. As we work together on the goals you bring in, we will gradually help you understand your present life in the context of your past, while challenging you to imagine and take steps towards a more whole-hearted future.
Finding your way to an embodied sense of love and belonging can be a daunting challenge to do alone, but it is so much easier with support. My work focuses on helping you reconnect with your caring and whole self, especially in moments of pain. As the parts of you that may have become extreme in their protective roles feel understood, they can return to balance. Together, we explore with curiosity and compassion, getting creative about how you can genuinely meet your own needs.
Personally, I enjoy anything creative, wild, or active. I live for symbols, metaphors, deep connection, and chance encounters. You might find me just as at home on a soccer field, snuggled up with a cat, in a kitchen, or out at a show with my friends. I’m a proud parent of some very weird kids.
Specialties: I specialize in working affirmatively with queer and trans young adults finding their way through experiences such as depression, anxiety, complex trauma, and questions of identity. I am best for people who may be really hesitant to go towards the hard stuff, but have an underlying drive towards a life that actually works for them, regardless of what other people say or think.
