Wild Heart Book Club:
Surviving Autocracy
A book club gathering for queer, trans, and allied adults (18+)
Join Wild Heart Society and Queer Community Network for a meeting of Wild Heart Book Club featuring Surviving Autocracy by Masha Gessen. This gathering invites queer, trans, and allied adults to come together for thoughtful conversation, shared reflection, and community connection. No academic vibes, no pressure to be “caught up.”
We’ll gather as a community to reflect on the book’s themes and their relevance to our lives today. Whether you’ve read the whole book, part of it, or are engaging with the ideas for the first time, you are welcome here.
About the Book
Surviving Autocracy examines how democratic backsliding takes hold and what it means to live—and resist—under increasingly authoritarian systems. Our discussion will center shared reflection, care, and curiosity, with attention to how these themes intersect with queer and trans lives. This is not a debate space, and no one will be asked to argue or defend their perspective.
