Soleil, Intern

Hello there, I’m Soleil! (they/them)

I am a non-binary, POC clinician who is passionate about providing trauma-informed, culturally-sensitive care by understanding a client’s context.  I care deeply about how a person’s identity factors have influenced their lived experiences, as well as how these factors are impacted by the current systems we live in.  As someone who understands that each client is unique, I conduct therapy from an integrative approach and tailor treatment to fit the needs that best suit the client.  My approach uses a psychodynamic foundation when understanding a client’s previous and current relationships (familial, platonic, romantic, etc.), as well as how these relationships inform the way a client navigates the world.  I also incorporate values from liberation psychology, which highlights minimizing the power dynamic within the therapeutic relationship and making our work a collaborative experience. I believe that a client is the expert of their lived experiences and that there is power in this knowledge.

The way I describe the therapeutic journey is like driving in a car together.  As your therapist sitting in the passenger’s seat, I have a map that shows us the many different routes we can go. As the client in the driver’s seat, you get to decide which paths we explore together. Some days we might travel down the same path for a while, whereas other days we might explore new paths.  Some paths might feel like a smooth ride, whereas others might be more rocky.  I hope to provide a safe, secure, and supportive environment where a client can explore whatever path they choose and know that they are not alone.

In my spare time, I love to lift weights, dance, bake/cook (I love exchanging recipes!), run, play video games, explore new restaurants, take naps, and hang out with my two pet bunnies (Boba and Hester)!

Specialty: Adults (18+), LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, trauma, interpersonal difficulties, body image, attachment issues, anxiety, depression, identity exploration

People I am best for: individuals who are curious to better understand how their past experiences and relationships influence their perception of the world and interactions with others. I am best for people with an open mind and are motivated to promote change in their life. I work particularly well with young adults and greatly enjoy this population.
